Project Alpha

Project Alpha is a space adventure game that includes trading, buying and selling ship weapons and components, space combat, exploration and more. Take part in space battles between the Federation and Empire, raid ships and pirate their funds and discover profitable trading routes.


Project Alpha is the first game in a planned series of space sim games, so look out for a sequel sometime in future with more of everything that Alpha has to offer.

These are most of the changes we have made to Project Alpha to enhance gameplay, performance and stability. Thanks to all our valued gamers for their really positive feedback and praise thus far. Enjoy!


1. Ad for zombies.
2. Added 2 new types of asteroid.
3. Added asynchronous loading.
4. Added explosion animations to ship deaths and bullet collisions.
5. Added option to reselect storage device to pause menu.
6. Ai's do not shoot sun.
7. Asteroids now animate.
8. Asteroids tweaked and do not crumble into infinitely small chunks.
9. Audio fixes, less peaking and new XACT optimisations.
10. Burning sun, instead of static sprite.

13. Chain gun bullets are now separate, instead of being like rods for prior performance.
14. Code box previously only ever chose the first person signed in.

18. Doubled fire rate, halved damage dealt.
19. Extensive use of spritesheets, replacing the very slow dictionary based spritebooks.
20. Fire fights are now much more satisfying.
21. Fixed battle music cues.
22. Fixed Crash bug when pulling out memory card, and re-inserting it then loading.
23. Fixed rare case where you would get no money from boarding an enemy.
24. Fixed selection quickmod bug.
25. Fixed thumbstick bug in quickmod
26. Fixed values overlapping boarders.
27. Fixed wrapping in text boxes.
28. Heaps of minor bugs and tweaks.
29. Hud no longer renders in menus, except for credits.
30. Hundreds of physics duplicates removed.
31. Increased fire rates but lowered damage.
32. Lots of redundant planet update code has been removed.
33. Made it easier to board crippled enemies.
34. Many combat improvements.

36. Mini map was drawing 100x too many lines, wrecking performance.

39. Multiple controllers work better now.
40. New game in start-up messing with loading.
41. Physics optimization.
42. Planets updated in menus, so they moved away while you were docked.
43. Player ship now uses fuel.
44. Removed many unused contents.
45. Reworded the game description.
46. Rumble jamming when swapping controllers.
47. Rumble only ever went to controller 1.
48. Simpler collision for ships, faster but still very accurate.
49. Some enemy boarding bugs fixed.
50. Tamed the garbage collector some more.
51. Tips menu added.
52. Ui can be toggled with bumpers properly.
53. Upgraded to 3.1.
